Jump Up In The Air And Stay There (Spoof)

“IM A RECOVERING UNDERCOVER OVERLOVER TRYING TO RECOVER FROM A LOVE THAT I CAN’T GET OVER” – Words stated by Erykah Badu from the track “Out Of My Mind, Just In Time” off the latest project New Amerykah Part Two: Return Of The Ankh — So to prepare for this album, the day before, me and Ash did a “spoof” video to the track “Jump Up In The Air And Stay There” — Granted, our version is not technically better we don’t have the riff raff of expert visual designing, we just roll with the spontaneity of a non-rehearsed session of the MacBook Photo Booth Session.

Raphael De La Ghetto’s Poetry Corner [David Delisca x Steven Lopez x Andre 3000]

MUSIC.ART.LOVE. Music is art, art is music, all is love. So lately, I have been inspired by visual pieces that I come across on the internet of through friends and homies, with those pieces I have been inspired to write a piece from the inspiration that I receive from them. Also, my iTunes is going off, so I also come across music that would motivate me to create a mood the the piece that I create derived from the inspiration. This is the first in the series.

VISUAL ART (INSPIRATION)

by Steven Lopez “Amerykahn Promise” from the series After Midnight Soul

MUSICAL ART (MOTIVATION)

by Andre 3000 “She Lives In My Lap” from the album The Love Below

WORD AND EXPRESSION

by David Delisca “YaYa”

YAYA

She was looking for a man with logical “OVERstanding” of the black womban
A man who was blessed with creativity and a sensitive stance
A funny dude, a humorous gent who could bring the dimples to her cheeks
A man who would respect her as a lady
but has the power to bring out her inner freak out her tent
Be there for the wants and needs
The ups and downs
She doesn’t know who he is
but yet you could hear her sing “I Just Want You Around”

She’s been climbing the hills looking for

A provider
Defender
Friend
Lover
One who could co-exist with her
… but she wonders why this doesn’t exist with her

She is not looking for no actor
To fit the role of her documentary
One needs to throw away the playa scripts
and put forth all their soul and energy
She has no drawbridge,
One must swim through the moat of insecurities and doubt
Goal to make it to her castle, her house, her fortress
Her home
She’s cool with being alone, just want somebody to come along

Confidently confident woman
Constant constantly EVOLVING
Naked, sheds her vulnerability little by little over time
A speaker and a listener
Spiritual gold mine
Bright Smiles
Peering Eyes
She has a funkadelic angelic side
And a revolutionary conscious mind
Destiny is constantly confidently telling her all the time
That one good man, by fate won’t resist her shine

Raphael De La Ghetto’s Poetry Corner “looking for someone new – 22 (toronto)”

looking for someone new – 22 (toronto) [Craiglist Post /*Piece*]

Hi. I’m 22,
turning 23 soon.
Just looking for someone new to talk to.

I’m new to this,
not used to it,
posting ads on Craigslist.
Clubs and bars aren’t doing too much so I guess I can try this

We can chat through emails to see if compatibility exists,
hope in actuality that the virtual and reality is equally equipped,
showcase your personality with quotes and quips.
Can I get lost in the the words you use,
The words you choose to type with?
If things go well,
who knows what fate will tell,
what destiny will sell to our selves?
Email-to-phone calls-to-first date, with no pressure for it to excel

About me,
I’m tall, dark and I’ve been told that I’m a handsome chocolate.
I used to be insecure about my skin tone but now Im proud of it.
Dropped out of York, next semester I’ll be at Seneca College.
I work full-time, yea the 9-5 kinda make me sick but its something to build with,
got dreams that I’m trying to live in.
On the weekends,
I spit poetry, wrote hip-hop rhymes and memorize independent movie lines,
Those are my hobbies.
Dont have a car but the TTC subway line is treating me just fine.
Got a 3 year old son,
stays with his mother but I go to see him all time.
No baby mama drama but if think thats baggage
Then don’t your let mouse click over the section that states “reply.”
Don’t live on my own,
got a roommate, hardly is he ever home.
Loneliness wont leave me alone,
so I’m looking for company to call my own

Sorry that I wrote a paragraph,
couldn’t decide on a epigraph that I would
perfectly describe my present and my past.

… but I’m new to this,
not used to it,
posting ads on Craigslist
Club and bars weren’t doing much so thought I would tried this.

And you,
Crazy.Sexy.Cool.
anywhere from 19-32
Dont have race issues
but I gotta say Caribbean and African women make me wanna drool
Please be funny because I like to laugh too
Your sexiness is determined by you.
Hope you are modest, compassionate and intelligent
Not looking for perfection because I already know that it don’t exist.

So many things that we can do
Its all on you.
Stroll through the aisles of the BMV
What do you like to read?
Rollerskate on the boardwalks of Woodbine Beach
Head to Broadview & Queen dine at The Real Jerk to eat
Contemplate if the jerk chicken in Eglinton West could be the best
We can lose our breath,
at a game to watch the Raptors, The Blue Jays or the Maple leafs play
From East-End Scarborough, to West-End Etobicoke, where ever you want to go.
or we can just chill here or there,
on the lawn chairs conversing at Dundas Square

but Im new to this
not used to it.
posting ads on Craiglist.
Club and bars wasn’t doing shit
Not looking for love but who know what I can get
An online-relationship might be worth the trying.
Just send me a message with a funky subject line
I’ll get back to you as soon as I have time

SpottieOttieDopaliscious Angel: Angela Bassett

What’s Stella Getting Her Groove Back Got To Do WIth It

Stella might’ve had to go to Jamaica just to find her groove but Angela Bassett surely never lost hers. She is 52 years young and she still looks sooo purrrty.

Oscar Nominated. Emmy Nominated. Golden Globe Winner. NAACP Image Award Prowess — She’s a Black Women that interpreted captivating and sensational performances for depictions of characters like Tina Turner in “What’s Love Got To Do With It”, Betty Shabazz in “Malcolm X” Rosa Parks in “The Rosa Parks Story” — I have learned so much from her

She is 52!! And still look so fine. Wow, she really works. Very toned, probably one of the few women that I would allow to whoop my ass without running away. 52 years young. Whoa.

Currently she is starring on NBC “ER” holding the fort but my most memorable role she did in film was in “Waiting To Exhale” as in Bernadine which her character “shoop” practices include burning shit up. lol.

Bernie’s Story Interpreted Through Mary J. Blige “Not Gon’ Cry”

Much love to Angela Bassett

NFL Draft Prospect: Jarrett Brown (J.Brizzle)

Palm Beach Talent

The list of NFL players from Palm Beach County is a list of plenty: From Former Pro Bowlers Anquan Boldin (Ravens) , Fred Taylor (Partriots), Devin Hester (Bears) and Super Bowl 42 MVP Santonio Holmes (Steelers). This the 2010 NFL Draft has plenty more prospect with the possibility of being drafted and continuing to possible illustrious careers, including the speedy Jacoby Ford (Clemson), Preston Parker (Formerly of FSU) and Jarrett Brown (WVU) who I know as “J.Brizzle”

Wiz Khalifa “This Plane”

Brizzle

I went to school with Jarrett, graduated in the same class at Palm Beach Lakes High. Everybody knew Brizzle’s future was bright considering he was a starter and four-year letterman for the Football and Basketball team. It’s great to see the dream within reach for the hometown fellow

With a standout performance among the Quarterback Group in the NFL Combine, displaying speed (4.57 in the 40 yard dash) and great arm strength in the quarterback drills, Jarrett is definitely a talent to look out.

Well Wishes

Favorite Episode of Martin: “Your Arms To Short To Box With Martin”

Wuzzup, Wuzzup, WUZZUP!

Martin was funny. Hilarious. Muhahaha.

Although, I only really enjoy the 1st couple of seasons, its was just a wonderful black show that had me laughing. Although the show was corny, I understand that you don’t need to be an Emmy award winning sitcom to make me laugh. Muhahahaha *insert laugh track*

Below is my favorite episode “Your Arms To Short To Box With Martin” (Season 1, Episode 24) —  Tall ass Tommy gets jumped by two midgets over a girl, Martin and Cole go on a bounty to retrieve the two midgets that jumped Tall ass no job Tommy haha.

Feat. Bushwick Bill of The Geto Boys

*Peep Part 3 in which Tall ass Tommy, spits a wonderful monologue about brotherly love*

Get Down Wit Dis: “Lost Lyrics”

WHERE LYRICS ARE LOST, DREAMS ARE FOUND

When  I was 13 years old, I thought I could rap, I was a major playa hater of Lil Bow Wow who at the time was being adored and by all the little girls in my 7th grade class.

Not to say much as if I wanted my face to be cut out of every Source, Vibe , Essence, Jet or whatever Teeny Bopper magazine to be plastered on every girl Trapper Keeper, mirrors frames, Crayon boxes and Jansport backpack. — I just wanted to be noticed. In the words of the Nigerian D.C. Rapper Wale“I had beautiful words but [girls] never listened” I asked myself why would somebody listened to a low-income child with words about his life. I just needed to be engaged. An outreach that could actually reach me. I, unfortunately get it in the means of channelling my liquid sword rhymes that could build up 36 chambers. Haha.

But in Toronto, My homies Amanda Parris and Natasha Daniels help start an initiative in which there are youth in the Jane & Finch and the Malvern communities, two “priority” neighborhoods in the GTA, have an opportunity to shine their light into the world in a lyrical manner.  They are grown up folks in a young’n body frame have been doing some major thangs.

Lost Lyrics is part of a movement. Created in response to unimaginative teachers, negative labels and boring classes, Lost Lyrics is the alternative…rooted in the search for self-determination.

Hip Hop culture is the inspiration and tool utilized to break down the images, pressures, and issues our young people face. Together we create our own road-map, somewhere between the streets and the classroom, pushing young minds to engage, speak and rebel…but still graduate.

I took a fond into one of the word-smiths who goes by the stage name “Change Of Heart”, one of the illest names, I noticed the POWAH that each one has within them. Check out the trailer to see what I am talking about

LOST LYRICS: TRAILER TO A MOVEMENT

Big Shout Out to all those in involved, Amanda, Natasha, Sun, Helen, Najla, Muginga, Obie and every one. Much respect to the MOVEMENT!!!
